Profile and Organization
Myanmar Koei International Ltd. (MKI) is a subsidiary of Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. (NK) of Japan and joint ventured with Myanmar Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. (MEC) with a paid-up capital of U$5 million. It is registered with the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations (MoIFER) in Myanmar. Formed in April 2013, MKI is headed by Mr.Shunsuke HIEDA.
Mr.Shunsuke HIEDA is the Managing Director of Myanmar Koei International (MKI), a member of ID&E Holdings (formerly Nippon Koei). Returning to Myanmar in July 2025 following six years of international leadership, he drives MKI’s business development and project delivery across Myanmar and the wider ASEAN region. Mr.Shunsuke brings 25 years of distinguished experience within Nippon Koei as a consulting engineer and manager specializing in environmental science and engineering.
An expert in translating high-level sustainability strategies into practical, deliverable programs, Mr.Shunsuke has served as the Overall Project Lead for several high-profile regional initiatives. His recent leadership includes the AZEC Industrial Initiative for the decarbonization of industrial parks in ASEAN, JICA’s Eco-Industrial Park promotion project in Ho Chi Minh City, and JICA's sustainable PM2.5 air quality management project in Thailand. His core strengths lie in designing scalable program delivery models, institutional arrangements, and robust KPI frameworks that bridge the gap between policy and field implementation.
With an academic foundation in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, and Global Environmental Engineering, Mr.Shunsuke also spearheads MKI’s marine and offshore initiatives. This includes project structuring for offshore facility decommissioning, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) utilization, compliant ship recycling, and carbon credit readiness. Dedicated to driving Green and Digital Transformations (GX & DX), he focuses on equipping asset owners, industrial park operators, and decision-makers with practical, tech-enabled facility management solutions that reduce costs and risk while optimizing environmental performance.
MKI has been involving in implementing nationwide advisory services to funding agency and multilateral banks primarily Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), World Bank (WB), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and private companies.

We are proud to announce that MKI has become a participant of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative on 14 May, 2024. The UNGC is a voluntary initiative based on CEO commitments to implement ten (10) universal sustainability principles and take steps to support UN goals. Becoming a participant of the UNGC underscores our unwavering commitment to ethical business practices and sustainability in four key areas: human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, both in the projects we are involved in and within our management, to create a sustainable society through our business.
